GreenGeeks and HostGator both offer Shared, VPS, and Dedicated web hosting solutions. This comparison focuses primarily on their Shared Hosting plans. GreenGeeks has an all-inclusive hosting plan that includes unlimited space and bandwidth plus the ability to host an unlimited number of domains. HostGator by contrast has three different levels of shared hosting and you need to choose one of the higher, more expensive levels to get similar features. So here, GreenGeeks gets the nod.
I’ve also found GreenGeeks customer support response time to be much faster than HostGator. So, chalk up another advantage for them in this category. With both of these web hosts, you do get cPanel—which we think is preferable. And, we like that both GreenGeeks and HostGator practice green web hosting. On the features side of things, GreenGeeks offers you a free domain name for the life of your account plus free SEO tools. HostGator’s top level plan does give you a free dedicated IP and SSL—but again, you’ll have to pay significantly more compared to GreenGeeks.
Personally, I’ve had better website and email performance with GreenGeeks than with HostGator. Although your experience may differ, the other advantages that GreenGeeks offers make them a better choice in our opinion.
