Cloudways vs WP Engine: Speed and Performance
In our testing and my own personal experience using both of these excellent web hosts, both Cloudways and WP Engine provide excellent website speed and performance. However, Cloudways did post consistently faster speed results. Their cloud providers together with Cloudways’ optimized caching, database servers, and Breeze WordPress plugin performed better than WP Engine’s EverCache technology and optimized environment.
While the results are close, in this category, Cloudways is the winner. See some of our speed test results below:
Cloudways vs WP Engine: Website Staging
Cloudways and WP Engine both offer easy to use and effective website staging. It’s very easy to create a staging environment and push your changes back to production after testing them out. It’s a very close call in this category. However, since WP Engine also provides a development environment that you can use together with your staging and production environments, they get a very slight edge here.
Cloudways vs WP Engine: Data Backup
Again, both Cloudways and WP Engine excel when it comes to data backup and restore. You get automatic daily backups with both hosts, and you can also create on-demand backups when needed. While the data backup features are excellent with both Cloudways and WP Engine, Cloudways does offer more flexibility in choosing your automated data backup frequency. Also, with Cloudways, you can backup your data at both the server and application levels. So, here Cloudways has the advantage.
Cloudways vs WP Engine: Customer Support
Customer support is outstanding with both Cloudways and WP Engine. Response times are among the best that we’ve experienced. And both support staffs have proved to be knowledgeable and helpful when we’ve contacted them.
Cloudways offers three levels of expert support, while WP Engine provides expert WordPress assistance as they’re completely focused on the platform. Although it’s extremely close in this category, Cloudways get a very slight edge based on their advanced and premium support offerings.
