Base44 vs WordPress: Pricing and Plans

With Base44, you can start out using their free plan, then opt for one of their paid plans if you need to. Currently, plans range from $16 mo. to $160 mo. Base44 allows you to create an unlimited number of apps. However they use a credit system where you’re given a certain number of message and integration credits each month that you use as you’re creating your sites.

With WordPress.com, plans range from $2.75 mo. to $31.50 mo. However, you’re limited to one website per plan. If you’re using WordPress.org, then pricing will depend on the web host you choose.

Base44 vs WordPress: Website Creation

Creating a WordPress website has become increasingly easier over the years. There are even a number of AI WordPress website builders that make the process even faster. However, Base44’s vibe coding platform elevates the quickness of building a professional website even more.

While you can create an initial basic site quite quickly with the newer AI WordPress website builders, making changes and adding more functionality via plugins takes more time and definitely requires more effort.

On the other hand, I’ve created full transactional websites in about 6 minutes using Base44. And, making changes and adding more functionality is really a breeze using Base44’s AI chat interface. Also, the process of connecting your custom domain is super-easy with Base44. They’ve made the process much smoother than a lot of traditional web hosts.

So, in the category of website creation, Base44 is the winner.

Base44 vs WordPress: Speed and Performance

Our Base44 speed test results were actually a bit better than WordPress.com. Of course, the results may vary depending on what type of site you create. But, while it was close, Base44 was slightly faster in our testing.

While it’s not an exact apples to apples comparison here, we’ll give the edge to Base44 over WordPress.com.

Comparing Base44 to self-hosted WordPress.org adds another layer of complexity, as results will also depend on which WordPress host you choose. While we’ve certainly experienced some managed WordPress hosts that are faster, we’ve also encountered others that were surprisingly not as fast.

For the most part, Base44 uses their AI chat interface for customer support. But, I was pleasantly surprised that the AI was able to answer all of my questions and provide solutions to all of my support requests. You can also open a support ticket if you still need help. Premium support is available with Base44’s Elite plan, however that is more expensive.

With WordPress.com, you get automated chat support as well as the ability to submit support requests via the chat box. However, there may be a wait to get your response. If you’re using the WordPress.org software, then your customer support will depend on which host you choose.

In this category, I’ll give WordPress just a slight edge.

Base44 vs WordPress: Final Verdict

While WordPress.org and WordPress.com remain excellent choices for your website platform, Base44 and its vibe coding platform has definitely upped the ante. And, for many of you that need a website or app, Base44 is the better choice. Creating a professional website is much quicker and easier using Base44. It’s extremely easy to use. And, site performance is excellent—much better than expected.

On the other hand, WordPress has a longer proven track record as a favorite website platform. And, it provides better site ownership and control. Currently, I would recommend WordPress for enterprise applications and for those site owners that want more flexibility and control for moving their websites somewhere else if needed.

However, for most small and medium sized businesses that need a website and app for their digital footprint identity, as well as attracting new customers, I would recommend Base44 for its speed and easiness in creating both websites and apps.
