The Better Business Bureau website is a great place to do some of your online research when purchasing products and services—including web hosting. While I’d not use that site as my sole online research tool, the BBB site does provide some insight on how well a company addresses any issues and how concerned they are with customer satisfaction. Some web hosting companies seem to put a premium on solving customer’s problems in a timely manner—while others seem like they could care less.
The BBB uses the letter grading system (A+ – F) to show how well a company is doing. You can also see what types of complaints have been filed against a particular company and what remedies (if any) they have taken to rectify the situation.
Here’s a look at how some web hosting companies are currently doing according to the BBB:
InMotion Hosting = A+
iPage (aka The Endurance International Group, Inc.) = A-
Endurance International has many hosting companies under its umbrella, so this may not be the most accurate measure here.
Web Hosting Hub = A+
Bluehost = A+
MyHosting.com = A+
Go Daddy = A+
HostNine = B
Dreamhost = C+
According to the BBB site, they have some complaints that have either not been addressed or their response has been considered inadequate.
