How does Bluehost compare with Wix? This comparison between a traditional web hosting plan and a website builder package takes a look at Bluehost’s Shared Hosting plan versus Wix’s website builder packages.
Bluehost vs Wix For eCommerce Websites
Nether Bluehost nor Wix would be my first choice for building an Ecommerce website. However, both can be used to create one. With Bluehost, you get access to the eCommerce applications available in cPanel. You can also use their website builder, but I would only do so for a very basic and simple online store.
Wix has streamlined the process of building an online store. In fact, you can purchase their website plan specifically for eCommerce. However, the cost is greater. And as I mentioned, there are better choices for Ecommerce such as Shopify.
In this category, it’s basically a draw.
Bluehost vs Wix For Small Business Websites
For non-eCommerce sites for businesses, we like Bluehost over Wix. While you can certainly create a professional website for your business using Wix, some of the features, performance, and support are not as robust as with other traditional web hosting companies such as Bluehost. For that reason, we like using Bluehost better for creating small business websites.
For most small business websites, we recommend Bluehost over Wix.
Bluehost vs Wix For Blogs
Although you can easily add a blog with your Wix website, blog websites is another category where Bluehost does excel over Wix—-mainly due to their WordPress hosting. Bluehost is one of the recommended web hosting companies by WordPress.org. And, their customized cPanel interface lets you easily install and maintain your WordPress website.
If you’re strictly looking to create a blog, then Bluehost is recommended over using Wix.

Recommendation
This comparison between Bluehost and Wix is a little closer than most of our match ups between a traditional web host and a website builder company. However, overall Bluehost is the winner.
While the Bluehost website builder is not as streamlined as Wix, the results you get with a Bluehost website is far superior in our experience. Bluehost provides more features, gives you more control over your website, and is definitely a better value. Also, we found the customer support at Bluehost to be superior to Wix.
In this comparison, I would choose Bluehost for most websites. Bluehost is a good choice for WordPress sites and their overall website performance is more impressive than Wix. Therefore, despite Wix being touted as a simple website solution, in the long run we feel you’d be better off with Bluehost.
