The Best Web Hosting for WordPress

WordPress is definitely one of the most popular platforms for website owners these days. This content management system not only allows you to create most any kind of website you need, but it is also user-friendly to those who are not tech gurus as well as being customizable to those more experienced designers and developers. Many people, including myself, have utilized WordPress to quickly create all types of sites.

With the popularity of WordPress, a number of web hosting companies are advertising their services as pro-Wordpress or WordPress enhanced. There is even one web host (WP Engine) that specializes in managed WP hosting. So what is the best hosting for WordPress sites? Do you need a managed hosting account devoted to WordPress? I’ve had a lot of WordPress sites over the years, and my experience has been that most web hosting companies—at least the established ones—do a very good job with WordPress. Yes, there are exceptions. But as far as how your actual WP site operates online, there isn’t a big difference. Now, some sites may run faster with one host as opposed to another. But I’ve found that to be more of a result of the web hosting company’s overall network or data center rather than anything specifically related to WordPress.

The one area where there could be a big difference is the installation and removal of WordPress sites. Some hosting control panels have a direct icon for installing WP. Others, that use cPanel for example, will use an installation application like Softaculous or Fantastico. When I once tried to delete a certain WP site, Fantastico actually deleted other sites that it shouldn’t have. And, that web hosting company had no solution for me. This is the type of issue where the web host you choose could make a difference with WordPress. I would look for a hosting plan that includes either a direct WordPress installation method or a reliable installer like Softaculous.

So just remember, don’t be influenced too much by those web hosts that claim to specialize or be more proficient with WordPress. If you do some research and choose an established company with good reviews, you should be able to have a lot of success with your WordPress sites.
