While DreamPress delivers decent website speeds, this category isn’t that close. SiteGround provides noticeably faster speeds. Along with my personal experience as a SiteGround customer, our testing results were just as impressive. SiteGround posted outstanding results—some of the best we’ve seen.

Both SiteGround and DreamPress include excellent website staging features. You can easily create a staging copy and test out changes to your website before moving them to production. Because staging is available on all DreamPress hosting plans, DreamHost gets a slight edge in this category.

Both SiteGround and DreamPress provide automatic data backup. However, SiteGround provides automatic daily backups with the option to perform restores from the past 30 days of data. Also, they have now added the ability to create on-demand backups. With DreamPress, you can only run one on-demand backup per day. And, your backup data is retained for only 2 weeks. So, SiteGround is the winner in this category.

Customer Support

I have to say that I’m very impressed the way DreamHost has improved their customer support. In the past, wait times have been excessive. However, I’m pleased to report that they have greatly improved their response times, and the support I’ve received at DreamHost has been excellent.

However, SiteGround is still king when it comes to customer support. They thoroughly train their support staff before they even are allowed to help customers. For years, I’ve been 100% satisfied with SiteGround’s customer support. And, they continue to deliver responsive, helpful, and courteous assistance when needed.

Although it’s closer now between these two than in the past, when it comes to customer support, SiteGround still takes the honors.

Recommendation

With SiteGround and DreamHost both recommended by WordPress.org, you definitely expect top WordPress hosting from them. And I have to say that indeed they both do justice to the WordPress platform.
