With web hosting company HostGator recently raising prices on their Shared and WordPress Hosting plans, sighting rising costs, we thought it was a good time to take a look across the board at web hosting pricing here in 2015. Earlier this year, we pointed out that some web hosts had indeed surprisingly raised their prices—for the first time in quite a while.

As for the future of web hosting pricing, competition remains fierce. And now in addition to the traditional web hosting companies, others such as SquareSpace, Wix.com, and SmugMug are vying for website owner’s business. While we don’t expect to have an all-out across the board price hike by every company, we’ll have to see if any others follow suit with HostGator.
