When you’re looking for the best value web hosting, two hosting companies you’ll want to consider are InterServer and iPage. These two web hosts provide multiple website hosting plans that are packed with features that often cost more elsewhere. I’ve had positive experiences with both InterServer and iPage, so let’s see which is better for you.
With InterServer, you get cPanel while iPage provides their own graphical based interface. Personally, I prefer cPanel but they are both easy to use. However, while you can host multiple websites at both InterServer and iPage, we’ve found the process easier with cPanel. On the other hand, some may find getting started is easier at iPage—which features step by step tutorials.
I’ve found website speed and performance to be a little better at InterServer. And, I also like that they provide weekly automated backups and will perform data restores for free. iPage does provide some nice freebies such as Google and Bing advertising credits, yellowpages.com listing, and toll free U.S. phone number—plus, you get a free domain name for the first year.
If you plan on using WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal, then I would go with InterServer. The installation process with cPanel is much smoother—which is magnified even more if you plan on having multiple websites. If you’d rather use a different type of website builder to quickly get a website up and running, then iPage would probably be a better choice.
While iPage has been our primary recommendation for budget hosting in the past, it seems that for most situations, InterServer is now the better choice for the best value in a hosting plan. With their price lock guarantee, you pay the same price at renewal time that you did for your initial term. So while iPage will be cheaper at sign up time, in the long run, you’d wind up spending less with InterServer.
