WP Engine Implements Two-Step Authentication Process

WP Engine continues to innovate and lead the managed WordPress hosting industry with new features. Their latest improvement is the addition of their two-step identification process. This Two Factor Identification goes beyond just having a password, and provides another layer of protection to your WP Engine account and your websites. There is no extra charge for this added protection, but you do need to opt in.

With this new two factor authentication process, in order to log in to your WP Engine account you need your email and password as well as a security code from your smartphone.

When you enable the two factor process, you download Google Authenticator to your smartphone and take a picture of a QR code. You’ll then be able to access the security code for you to log in to WP Engine. You also receive recovery codes to access your account if you lose your phone.

To enable the new security, you log in to your WP Engine account and click on the Settings link at the top of the dashboard. You then click on the Two-Factor Auth link on the left side and then click the Enable two-factor authentication button to begin the process.

Live Chat Support Now Available 24/7
In other WP Engine news, I’m happy to report that WP Engine has also expanded their live chat support so it is now available 24/7! Live chat is my preferred vehicle for contacting support, and it’s great to know that I can now receive their expert WordPress support round the clock.
