Web Hosting Comparison Numbers for 2015

Our Web Hosting Comparison Numbers page has been updated for 2015. Along with the new data, we’ve also revised some of the graphics to include a new infographic on the social media numbers and current web hosting prices.

There were a couple of surprises in going over the numbers to start off this year. For this first time in a while, some web hosting companies are actually raising their prices for shared hosting plans. Until recently, the fierce competition had resulted in web hosts continually lowering costs for customers. However, both GoDaddy and iPage have raised the price of their budget level hosting plans. There is some good news though as Namecheap is offering one of the lowest costs deals I’ve seen in quite a while. As of now (January 2015), you can get their shared hosting plan for about 83 cents per month.

The other note of interest involved the social media data. While there wasn’t a change in which hosting companies were utilizing social media the most, it was clear that Facebook has become the preferred social media outlet, as the numbers there have risen much more than with Twitter. Previously, the numbers between Facebook and Twitter had risen at about the same rate—but not this time.
