Hosting.com Acquires/Partners with Rocket.net

As WordCamp US 2025 began, we got the stunning news that Hosting.com has now acquired and is partnering with Rocket.net! Still not that far from their acquisition of A2 Hosting, Hosting.com has now strengthened their position in the industry even more. Rocket.net is one of the fastest WordPress hosts we’ve covered, and has been one of our top rated choices for managed WordPress hosting. Likewise, Hosting.com (formerly A2 Hosting) has also been one of our top recommendations for web hosting. Together, they could become the dominant player in the WordPress hosting field.

Unlike their acquisition of A2 Hosting, that was quickly transitioned to Hosting.com, reportedly, Rocket.net will continue to operate as a separate entity—at least for now. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rocket.net is eventually folded completely under the Hosting.com brand. We’ll have to wait and see.

Rocket.net Founder and CEO Ben Gabler will stay on in the role of Chief Product Officer.

Interestingly, while the premium managed WordPress hosting plans are now identical on both the Hosting.com and Rocket.net websites (you get the first month for only $1), the renewal rates on the Hosting.com site are a dollar less per month. (See Below)

What’s New/Changed:

  • Rocket.net is now part of Hosting.com.
  • Hosting.com is offering Rocket.net hosting plans on their site.
  • Rocket.net CEO Ben Gabler will stay on as Chief Product Officer.

What’s the Same:

  • Rocket.net continues to operate separately.
  • Hosting.com continues to also offer less expensive WordPress hosting.
  • Rocket.net Hosting Plan Features

As I mentioned above, both Hosting.com and Rocket.net have been two of our top recommendations, so while we would expect some changes coming down the road, we’re not concerned about any drop off in hosting quality. It will be interesting to see if Hosting.com continues to make more moves and become the truly dominant force in the hosting industry.
