Is ExpressVPN a good choice? With online security becoming even more vital while working and browsing online these days, let’s see how ExpressVPN performs here in my ExpressVPN Review. We’ll see what you get with ExpressVPN and if you should consider using it for better protection when you’re on your computer or mobile device.
Like other quality VPNs, with ExpressVPN you can hide your identity online from trackers, change your IP address to hide your location and to bypass restrictions in certain countries, and to protect yourself when using a public Wi-Fi. ExpressVPN can protect you during online activities such as shopping, gaming, and file sharing.
ExpressVPN is available in three different plans: Basic, Advanced, and Pro. However, if you do choose ExpressVPN, I would recommend going with either the Advanced or Pro plans. With the Basic plan, you get fewer simultaneous connections and only Lite Protection. The Advanced and Pro Plans offer more simultaneous connections along with advanced protection, password management, and Identity Defender. All plans do come with a 30 Day money back guarantee.
For multiyear plans prices range from $3.49 mo. to $7.49 mo. Monthly plans are priced from $12.99 mo. to $19.99 mo. Overall, pricing is a bit higher than we would prefer, though it isn’t outrageously high.
I found the signup and installation processes to be very easy with ExpressVPN. You do have to remember to copy your activation code and enter it after downloading the app.
The ExpressVPN interface is also very easy to use. Even on the desktop app, it looks and operates more like a mobile phone app. From the upper left menu, you can enable your advanced protection such as Threat Management, Ad Blockers, and Parental Controls.
Connection times to the ExpressVPN servers were very good. ExpressVPN offers an excellent selection of server locations and performance was also good.
As I mentioned above, you can enable threat management and ad blocking from the advanced button tab. Keep in mind that you have to be disconnected from the VPN in order to enable these features.
From the app menu, you can also quickly access the ExpressVPN Security Tools by clicking the Help & Support option.
You can check your IP address for privacy:
You can run a DNS Leak Test:
You can also run a WebRTC Leak Test:
I’m happy to report that ExpressVPN has an excellent support center that includes an extensive and easy to use knowledge base. Also, live chat support is easily accessible from the icon on the lower right corner of the site or the app menu.
Initially, you are connected to automated chat support. However, you can easily request a support agent. The wait time wasn’t bad, but it could depend on the time of day. I did find the support team to be responsive, professional, and helpful.
Overall, I was impressed with ExpressVPN. It does provide the online security you would expect from a top VPN. The interface is very easy to use and I like the quick access to the advanced protection and security tools. Performance and speed were very good with connection times being just a tad below the fastest VPN providers we’ve tested. And, we were also impressed with ExpressVPN’s customer support.
What could be improved? Well, prices are on the higher side compared to other VPNs we’ve used. Also, there could be more features added that are available with other VPN providers, such as webcam blocking and alternative IDs.
However, if you’re looking for a solid, easy to use VPN, and can afford to pay a bit more, then I would suggest checking out ExpressVPN. See our review ratings below.
