Which is better: Base44 or Lovable? In this comparison of Base44 vs Lovable, we look at two of the most popular vibe coding platforms for creating website and apps. Which one is more effective in using AI generation for building sites? And, which platform should you choose? Let’s take a detailed look.
Both Base44 and Lovable have free plans, so you can get started testing it out right away. However, I found Lovable’s free plan more restrictive. Base44 allowed me to create an initial version of a site, while I ran out of credits with Lovable before my site could be completed. Also, keep in mind that with Base44 you’re able to create support tickets, while with Lovable the free plan only includes community support.
Besides their free plan, Base44 offers four premium paid plans:
Starter: $16 mo.
Builder: $40 mo.
Pro: $80 mo.
Elite: $160 mo.
With each plan, you get increased credits and additional features.
With Lovable, you can choose:
Pro: $25 mo.
Business: $50 mo.
With both plans you can opt for 100 or more credits, with the price increasing the more credits you want.
Overall, I think Base44 offers more value, and I was able to create a full transactional website with their Starter Plan.

Creating a website/app with Base44 was a very smooth and easy process. Base44’s split screen dashboard let’s you see the AI progress on the left side, while you can preview your new site on the right. After entering my website prompt created with ChatGPT, Base44 quickly created my fitness consulting website—including transactional booking functionality.
Unlike Base44, Lovable uses one main screen to show the AI builder progress and preview your site being created. Lovable does give you a choice of designs to start out with. That was good. But, what wasn’t good at all was the site builder seem to freeze after about 10 minutes. Closer inspection revealed that there were message updates being displayed above a photo being displayed. Seems the issue was that I was out of credits. However, no message indicating the problem was displayed until much later!
While site designs were fairly similar, I found Base44 much faster in generating the initial website/app. Base44 took about 6 minutes, while Lovable took over 10 minutes to create the same type of fitness consulting website.
I also preferred Base44’s split screen dashboard a bit more. And, Base44’s entire dashboard was more intuitive and easier to use. For these reasons, Base44 is the winner for site/app creation.
If your main goal is to create a true native app that can be found in the Apple Store or Google Play, then Base44 is your winner.
With both Base44 and Lovable, you can access the link to a website you create and add it to your phone’s home screen—thereby using it like other apps. However, for creating a full-fledge native app, Base44 provides an easy to follow process (you just need to opt for their Builder plan or above).
Lovable doesn’t currently provide the same easy functionality for creating a true native app. The AI chat interface only said it requires “a lot more work” and recommended simply adding the link to the phone home screen.
Base44 is the clear winner for speed and performance. Although the sites I created with Base44 and Lovable appear similar in design, performance wise, we found Base44 to be superior.
Our test results showed faster page loading and better Core Web Vitals with Base44. Our Base44 site posted excellent full page loading times with no blocking time. Server response time (TTFB) was also impressive, as was FCP and LCP (First and Largest Contentful Paint).
By contrast, Lovable posted poor server response times (TTFB) and not so good Core Web Vitals such as FCP and LCP. And, full page loading time was okay, but definitely not as fast as Base44.

With both Base44 and Lovable, your first line and main source of support is the AI chat interface. Both performed about the same—though for me it did seem that Base44 was a bit faster in responding. I also found Base44’s AI to be more helpful than Lovable’s AI, although it could be due more to limitations of Lovable’s platform.
Base44 includes the option to create support tickets if needed. With Lovable, you need to buy at least the Pro Plan to get email support. The free version only includes community support.
I give the edge to Base44 in the support category.
In this comparison of Base44 vs Lovable, Base44 is the clear winner.
While both vibe coding platforms create quality looking sites, Base44 was much faster in creating our sites. We found the AI tech interface to be more responsive and helpful. And, site performance was superior with Base44.
Also, if you want to create a true native app available in Apple Store and Google Play, then Base44 is definitely recommended over Lovable.
