5 Things About GoDaddy Web Hosting You Might Not Know

GoDaddy has been my main domain management source for years. And as the largest domain registrar in business, apparently many others also use them for their domain names. However, GoDaddy’s web hosting has often been the target of harsh criticism. On the contrary, I’ve seen firsthand that they have made a genuine effort to improve their customer’s experience. In lieu of a full scale review at this point, I wanted to point out 5 features I’ve found with my GoDaddy web hosting plan that may surprise you.

Easy Streamlined Sign-Up Process
One of GoDaddy’s goals in recent months has been the streamlining and simplification of their website and customer services. Their web hosting sign up process is very simple and easy to follow. And, if you already have an account at GoDaddy for domain names, it’s even easier. During the sign up process, you also configure your cPanel account. After a couple of simple steps, you’re ready to get going creating your website (you’ll also receive a welcome email from GoDaddy).

You Can Choose Linux or Windows Hosting
Some web hosting companies will charge you extra if you want Windows hosting. While more people tend to use Linux as their platform, those website owners that need ASP and SQL Server will certainly want to opt for Windows hosting. At GoDaddy, you can choose either for the same price.

Customized and Easy to Use cPanel Interface
If you choose Linux as your platform, you’ll get cPanel as your interface. GoDaddy has customized the look of their cPanel so it has a cool look to it while still offering all the great functionality like one-click software installs and easy management of your email, domains, databases, and security.

Speed and Performance Better than Expected
In the past, GoDaddy’s hosting speed and performance may not always have been great. However, this is another area where it appears they have made some major improvements. I haven’t had my GoDaddy hosting account as long as some of the hosting plans I have with other web hosts I currently use. But so far, the site loading times and site availability have been great.

Live Chat Support is Coming Soon
For me, this is the one area where GoDaddy has been lacking in the past. But, according to their support feedback area, live chat support is being planned for use in the near future. In the meantime, GoDaddy does have a nice knowledge base and email support system.

I also should note that I’ve been using the GoDaddy Value Plan. If you choose one of their upscale hosting packages, you do get even more extra features.
