Lately, I’ve encountered quite a few questions about iPage hosting. As one of the more lower priced web hosting plans, a lot of people want to know how good they are and if iPage is worth a try. You can take a look at more of my thoughts about iPage in one of my previous posts. But below is a list of 12 frequently asked questions about them along with my answers based on my own experience as an iPage customer.
1. Is iPage easy to use?
Yes. iPage has a very user-friendly graphical based control panel interface. Online help is readily available and their customer support is very helpful. In addition, iPage provides two website builders with their hosting plan which are excellent for beginners.
2. Is iPage fast?
I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the speed of my sites on iPage. While I haven’t done a strictly timed one to one test, I have noticed an improvement in site load time with one of my websites that I moved from another host. This was even more surprising to me as iPage’s data centers are located back east and I’m on the west coast. The previous host of that particular site of mine was actually closer geographically, but iPage has been faster. So yes, I’d say iPage is fast.
3. Is iPage good for WordPress?
Yes. I have WordPress sites at iPage. It is very easy to install from the iPage control panel and I’ve yet to encounter any problems.
4. Does iPage support MySQL?
Yes.
5. Does iPage accept PayPal?
Yes.
6. Does iPage bill monthly?
iPage offers a 1, 2, or 3 year plan. You pay for your hosting term in advance. But they do offer an anytime money back guarantee.
7. Does iPage support Drupal?
Yes. You can install Drupal through the Simple Scripts installer.
8. Does iPage allow Google Adsense?
Yes. You can display Adsense on your sites.
9. Does iPage own your domain name?
I’ll assume this question applies to the free domain name you get with your iPage hosting plan. And the answer is no. The domain is registered in your name. Your domain is free for the first year.
10. Where is phpMyAdmin in iPage?
You can access phpMyAdmin through the MySQL Database icon under the Website heading in the iPage control panel. When you launch MySQL Database you’ll see an icon on the right side of the screen that will allow access to phpMyAdmin.
11. Is iPage or Fat Cow better?
I’ve used both iPage and Fat Cow. I still use iPage, but I cancelled my Fat Cow account not long after I signed up. That should tell you what I think. There really is no comparison here as far as I’m concerned. For me, iPage is far superior.
12. Which is better iPage or Just Host?
Both of these web hosts offer excellent value with their hosting plans. iPage usually has more discount sales on their hosting, so if your budget is tighter you might lean toward them.
